Stagger can be installed on any Mac as a standalone application. The standalone version offers several useful features:

• Stagger Reader – available for all formats supported by the Adobe 3D app for Unity
• Stagger – plugins cannot be installed directly to Stager, they need to be installed using the Stagger application

Modern 3D materials enable you to create rich and realistic materials for your scene, including Substance 3D materials, textures, Substance Painter materials and a number of new options for creating materials. No download is required – you simply launch Substance Painter and select New Material to begin.

As mentioned in our Substance Painter blog post at the end of last year, an Operations Manager has been provided with Substance Painter. It is accessed through Window > Interface > Operations Manager or is chosen when launching Substance Painter.

There is a new User Interface that provides greater precision for large amounts of editing and much more in-depth options for creating a variety of effects. This new UI is available for Windows 7+ (Professional and Ultimate editions), Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 10, Linux Ubuntu and Mac OS X.

Adobe’s legacy software package, Substance Designer, was created by the legendary Claude Labrune. Substance Painter (and its predecessors, Substance Designer and Substance B2M) are built on top of Substance Designer allowing you to create, organize, and edit your own material sets using the same tools that they created over a decade ago.

This project by concept artist, Greg Kennedy, is a demonstration of a 3D render that he made using Adobe Substance 3D. This was a great way to create a scene and product art for a different use case. He also uploaded the project for viewing in the Adobe Design Cloud. Check it out here.

This project by concept artist, Vittorio Bruni, uses Adobe Substance 3D to create a multi-pass render with complex geometries. He began with a single 3D model from the website, Scarecrow Studio. He then used his Standard 3D Panel to import his model into Substance Painter. From there, he created a multi-pass render that he could share with others via the Creative Cloud. He published his project to the Creative Cloud and added it to his collection. Check out his project on Behance.

This project by concept artist, Vittorio Bruni, used Adobe Substance 3D to create a project for the Graphic Jellyfish Site. This project used a 3D scanned object that he had created for his own collection. In this case, he wanted to quickly create an art asset for use on a website that he was creating. He started with his Standard 3D Panel to import the object into Substance Painter and added more textures to the scanned object. He then added a grad to give it more depth.

Import and Export features allow Stager to seamlessly import and export up to five different 3D formats in one operation. Files that cannot be read may be skipped by displaying an “import error” message. You can also preview the imported file before completing the import and export operation.

Import and export operations require an Internet connection; they are not available offline. The number of scene files that can be imported or exported is limited to the storage capacity of the applications used. Uploading a large file may require several minutes or hours depending on the size of the file and the network connection. However, if a large file is required, be sure to first import the required model into Stager.

I am unable to find the option to buy this app. You have to use the trial version or search the app store for it. Given the pricing of $120 its not worth trying the 2.0 variant. 3.0 is the only version available for substance designer at this time.

To get started launch the app, go to “File” and select “New” and “3D Stager”. The app is compatible with Substance Designer 1.0 and above, but depending on the amount of features you plan on using the Pro version of Substance Designer may make more sense. As the Pro version contains additional features, like the ability to work with more than 18 key layers, and also has higher res UV maps, the Substance Painter trial version has fewer features available.

There are numerous benefits to using 3D Stager. Not only do you have access to this amazing rendering product, you also get to enjoy a robust, fast, and extremely flexible 3D pipeline. Let’s take a look at a few:
