Solid, stable software. I use it to process RAW files to jpgs for use on websites, posters, etc. I’ve found that with this software, a little tweak here and there is often all that is required. A wonderful camera Raw alternative to Lightroom which does a fabulous job on both Canon and Nikon files. On top of being able to process RAW files with creative input, ACR has an excellent book mode for learning photography.

Adobe Camera Raw is a really good piece of software. It’s one of the few, if any, cameras that doesn’t need to pay monthly to use ACR on their camera. As for why I’d use C1 above your home setup, it has a much better history, including a wide range of preview options of ISO, white balance and metering modes , color space selection, advanced sharpening like curves (without the need for Photoshop!), tone curves and some other stuff that the Sony/Adobe app lacks.
Also it supports an array of RAW file formats (some not supported by Adobe), including the Microsoft RAW, not just their JPEGs.
And with its low-end prices, it’s much more affordable than Adobe, even if you buy at full price.
